I loved both this article and the Sabbath one. I am a person who can subconsciously feel that everything is dependent on me, which is pretty prideful when it’s put that way!

The idea of co-laboring with God is a very centering idea. That I am helping make people’s lives better in God’s name is invigorating. But that God Himself can and does even more is comforting and motivation in its own way.

I like the "as you love yourself" standard because it pushes against both self-neglect and self-indulgence. Not that I meet that standard with anyone except my husband; I'm a pretty self-indulgent guy, and nobody's accusing me of taking the weight of the world on my shoulders. But at the same time, sacrifice for my husband barely feels like sacrifice at all. That's the real magic of "as you love yourself."

"If I give away all my possessions and if I hand over my body but do not have love, I gain nothing."

"But at the same time, sacrifice for my husband barely feels like sacrifice at all."--Yes! I think this is how marriage is supposed to be <3

When you say you are writing to help political extremists, I hope you mean on "both sides" of the spectrum
